Developing Thematic Material of Sport and Health Education for Fourth Grade’ Students of Elementary School in Pekalongan

Abstract

Jamaludin Yusuf, 2014. Developing Thematic Material of Sport and Health Education for Fourth Grade Students of Elementary School in Pekalongan. Thesis. Postgraduate Program, State University of Semarang (UNNES). 1st Advisor: Dr. Sugiharto, M.S.,  2nd Advisor: Dr. Dr. Oktia Woro K.H, M.Kes.

Objectives of this study are 1) to produce the form of the teaching-learning process of sport and health education that is presented according to thematic teaching of 4th-grade students in elementary school, 2) to know the implementation of thematic teaching of sport and health education that is presented according to thematic teaching of 4th-grade students in elementary school.

The research design is R&D (Research and Development), i.e., the product development in the form of thematic teaching for the fourth-grade students of elementary school students in sport and health education is conducted by the following stages; 1) the analysis of the needs of the product, 2) developing the initial product, 3) performing validation expert, 4) conducting small scale tests and large scale, 5) Products revision, 6) the end of products. The data will be collected using the guidelines of the observation questionnaire and descriptive statistics and then converted to qualitative data. The subject is the 4th-grade students in the 34 elementary schools in Pekalongan. The data obtained was analyzed using qualitative descriptive statistics. Quantitative data were obtained through the students' questionnaires and interview results. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and then converted to qualitative data.

The results of the assessment of the response of students and teachers on a significant scale test in each theme are to get the following results: 1 theme median, i.e., 81%predicate "B" theme 2, an average of 84% predicate "B," theme 3 average 86% predicate "B," theme 4 on average 85% of the predicate "B," theme 5 average92% predicate "A," theme 6 is an average of 89%predicate "B" theme 7, an average of 94% of the predicate "A" theme 8, an average of 97% of the predicate "A," theme 9 on average 95% predicate "A."These results can be interpreted as the product of the thematic sport and health education learning materials, and it can be applied or implemented in the thematic sport and health education for 4th-grade students of elementary school, where the product is accepted very well by sport and health education teachers and the 4th-grade students of an elementary school in Pekalongan.

We can conclude that Developing Thematic Material of Sport and Health Education for Fourth Grade Students of Elementary School in Pekalongan is effective for thematic teaching of sport and health education for 4th-grade students of elementary school students because it can create an effective teaching-learning process and develop three domains of  learning (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) optimally. It is recommended that sports and health teachers use the learning material produced as references to be more creative and innovative.
