Topic is a main point of the subject which will be developed in one of the important things in writing essay. Before we write an essay, we have to know what the purpose of the essay which we want to make. For examples, the purpose is to persuade someone for doing something, to explain something to the reader, and to describe the particular person, thing, place and so on. So the topic you choose must fit with the purpose of the essay.

There are two kinds of topic’s characteristics, deductive and inductive. Deductive topic is a kind of topic which is placed in the beginning of the paragraph. It is enable to the reader to know the purpose of the content from beginning. In other hand, it starts from general to specific explanations.

The counterpart of deductive is inductive. Inductive topic is placed in the end of paragraph. It refers to the inductive methods which the reader can understand the content from the explanation previously. In other word,  it stars from specific to general.

There are some steps in choosing the topics:

The first step is brainstorming. It means that we can find the interested things arround us. If it is difficult for you, you can think about your favorite activities. After you found some of the interest subjects, just write down all you are interested in a paper.  One of the subjects probably can be an interested topic.

The second step is choosing a strong topic that you interested in. The lists of subjects which obtained in brainstorming should be compared each other. The strongest subject must be taken related to our mastery. What the most interested thing in your mind will be a good one to be the topic. It caused by you have any ideas to support your topic for the development an essay. After you choose one of the subject lists, we do not need other subjects anymore and these can be dumped.

Then, refining the topic selected is the third step. It is important thing you have to do in order to make the structural words better. In other words, we need to revise what term we have got to be clear. Keep thinking over and over to make the topic dependable and attractive. Refining the topic will produce your best result.

The last step, you can write down the topic on paper clearly, and it may help you to find the outline. Your topic will be the direction of where you want to write an essay. After you do all the steps before, your topic will be ready steady go on the way to write an essay.

Indeed, determining the good topic is the first action in writing an essay. You have to pay attention that finding the topic is not easy as we think. If you only select the topic beyond the context you do not interested in, it is difficult to develop the topic into an essay caused by the lack of knowledge and surely you need extra sources. In this case, the tendency of writing an essay contains plagiarism, because the lack of knowledge itself.
